Alpha Lock vs. Clipping Mask (a Quick Comparison)
Here’s a quick explanation in Procreate on the difference between Alpha lock and Clipping mask!
First, we would start with Alpha Lock.
You can tap on it and set it to Alpha lock.
Now, what will happen when you draw on this shape is it will only allow you to draw within the bounds of the shape.
So, everything else will get cut off so essentially it is locking the visible part of the shape and everything that is not visible you can no longer draw on.
Now, this can only be done on one layer.
This is the key difference between Alpha Lock and Clipping masks.
With a Clipping Mask, we have a shape that has been clipped inside it.
We can now draw on a new layer that will still remain inside the restraints.
