I am quite familiar with their names since video games have been a part of my life since I can remember.
I have owned nearly every console there is, from the humble Atari to the mighty PS4.
A number of aspects make up a game.
The game’s graphics are essential in telling a story or making the characters look epic.
Of course, without technology, creating eye-popping graphics would not be possible.
However, as more tools become available to developers, they could create worlds and characters that are more realistic than ever.
Graphics in games will constantly improve, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Most of these famous video game graphic designers have significantly impacted the industry over the almost three decades that we have been gaming.
There is an inspiring story or two from a few developers that could motivate you to start developing games yourself.
We will go through the 10 famous video game graphic designers that made gaming what it is today.

Mortal Kombat is a clever fighting game of quick reactions and timed combos that got the world by storm.
It was an overnight success that spawned a range of different games and comics.
Tobias is well known for doing graphic design in the Mortal Kombat series.
John Tobias led the design team from 1992 to 1997 when he left Miday to start his game studio.
He has a long history in animation and comic creation and wrote “The Real Ghostbusters” series.
This 52-year-old video game designer is responsible for the full roster of themes, settings, and main character design up until 1997.
Some of the characters he created in Mortal Kombat were:

John originally started Midway with Ed Boon in 1988.
However, he later left his game studio, “Studio Gigante,” which also brought out a fighting game called Tao Fen: Fist of the Lotus in 2003.
The company also brought out a WWE Wrestling game.
Unfortunately, critics severely shunned the game, and shortly after, in 2005, “Studio Gigante” ceased to exist.
John currently works as a consultant in the gaming industry.
He has occasional gigs with Midday, such as writing and drawing the comic for the special edition of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
Whether his company failed or not, you cannot deny that Tobias played a massive role in the fight gaming genre.

He designed a fantastic world for us to explore and helped the robot design in the movie “Chappie.”

Mike did plenty of “fan art” concepts that had people raving back in 2011 and 2012.
His work on “Horizon Zero Dawn” really put his name out there with its ancient but futuristic style.
Perfecting blended background and character rendering made this game a hit among fans and critics.
Mike was a humble and shy creator.
He would sit for hours creating new digital sculptures.

Sadly in 2021, Mike Nash passed away of unknown causes.
His death was announced on Twitter by a friend of his.

Nash will be sorely missed amongst the community, and I don’t think there will ever be someone that can provide you with the look and feel that he had.

Hideo Kojima is a renowned video game designer, director, and producer known for his innovative and highly influential works in the video game industry.
He is best known as the creator of the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid franchise.

It also established Kojima as a pioneer in the field of stealth-based action games.
Kojima was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1963 and began his career in the video game industry in the late 1980s.
In 1987, he created his first game, Metal Gear.

Born in Japan, Goto has a short history in game design and is a reasonable need to other older higher-ranked graphic designers in the gaming industry.
If he keeps up this work, he will be a shining star amongst some of the most well-known designers out there.
He also created the logo for the game Asuras Wrath.
The game is a third-person fighter that has a unique fighting system that was highly acclaimed and praised.

Leading design with Tomohiro on the recent Resident Evil 3, the pair created a masterpiece that was easy to relive with the updated graphics to boot.
Masaki’s original style is anime manga.
You can see those adaptions slightly in some of his latest work, although he has a round design style that appeals to gamers’ eyes.
Being reasonably fresh in the industry, Masaki is proving to be a name to be reckoned with.
He was even a graphic designer for Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Capcom’s first “first-person” Resident Evil, who took the world by storm.

Since 1960 Yoshitake has been wowing people with his incredible anime skills.
Around the 1980s, he joined Square Enix and began helping with developing a game for Nintendo called Final Fantasy.
Yoshitaka has had involvement with Final Fantasy ever since and will either be doing logo design, character design, or costumes.
His style is unmatched and gives off a sci-fi fantasy effect.
Yoshitaka uses wimpy lines and some vibrant colors so that character can look as magical and mystical as possible.
As well as being in game design, Amano is all-rounded and has a bunch of animations, novels, and art books under his name.
Yoshitaka looks like he’s not slowing down with the new Logo design for the latest Final Fantasy but is still waiting for a release date.

Nomura is a Japanese video game artist that made his break in Final Fantasy VI.

He is an all-around designer that also fell in love with developing the battle system in Kingdom Heart.

Although he still has been involved with future products, he is currently working on the main character design for Nier: Replicant, which will be debuting in 2021.
Akihiko Yoshida has been designing character designs for a bunch of games and a few anime movie characters.
It looks like Akihiko Yoshida is a dominant figure in the Final Fantasy industry.

Art Director Christian Lichter headed the character design and illustrations for the game “Diablo 3”.
